This position reports to the Director, Events + Experiences.

By bringing girls together in inspired spaces – on and offline – we spark exploration and discussion of what’s possible. With structured support and access to a strong community, we guide girls towards their unique goals: first, by identifying those goals and then, building the roadmap to get there.

Step Up participants are high school girls and those who identify with girlhood and young women and those who identify with womanhood (ages 14-29), who are facing systemic barriers.

Step Up is in its five-year strategic plan, focused on strengthening existing programs and expanding its footprint nationally through a blended mentorship model of virtual, in-person and independent learning methodologies.

POSITION SUMMARY

The events coordinator supports the director, events + experiences, with producing events and programs that share Step Up’s strategic message, raise funds, and cultivate, educate, and steward our stakeholders to deepen their affinity for Step Up. This position requires experience in event planning and project management, and this role lives within Step Up’s creative team and is responsible for helping Step Up design high-quality events and programs.

This is a hybrid position, with occasional travel and attendance at in-person programs and meetings as assigned. There is a requirement for the candidate to be based in one of the following Step Up markets: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Nashville, or New York.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Event Production

  • Lead event logistics and execution of a portfolio of Step Up events, both inperson and digital
  • Support Step Up’s digital events, programs and meetings as a producer, tech lead and contributor through cross-team collaboration, planning and zoom link creation
  • Lead registration process and systems for all Step Up events through Classy and Salesforce platforms
  • Track event attendance, in collaboration with Programs and Data team members to provide event guests with registration support/assistance, and other needs as they arise
  • Manage internal and external Outlook calendar event and meeting invitations for the organization
  • Provide graphic design support, including creating events and programs flyers, digital assets, and design materials
  • Draft, prepare and collaborate on event project management documents like run of shows, event timelines, and project management calendars
  • Collaborate with teams for thorough evaluation of all events (debriefs and or/surveys) to ensure continuous improvement driven by data
  • Support Step Up’s efforts to reach teens and young adults ages 14-29 through innovative and creative event recruitment strategies and tactics that drive awareness and engagement to our events + programs
  • Collaborate with Step Up’s development department, leading event production logistics and materials for board and donor engagement events
  • Provide support in researching event needs for venues, catering, printing, rentals and more
  • Support in seeking in-kind donations deemed necessary to off-set expenses
  • Support in developing event resources for staff support and trainings
  • Monitor trends in the event industry to bring forth innovative and creative ideas and activations into events
  • Serve as a member of Step Up’s creative team, providing overall event support across departments to help Step Up shine
  • Understand and leverage data analytics to inform decisions related to communications, events, fundraising and content
  • Maintain fidelity to the Step Up verbal and visual systems, having a basic understanding of brand voice, graphic design and layout

One Step Up Support

  • Support cross-functional and collaborative working groups or special projects as organizational needs arise and priorities evolve
  • Perform general administrative needs and support such as research, data compilation and entry, mailing/shipping, and running errands
  • Represent Step Up at local events as needed
  • Attend local Step Up events and support in designated roles
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in event coordination, project management, and/or event production design
  • Proficiency with standard business applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Microsoft SharePoint and Teams
  • Experience with design + project management tools like Canva, Asana, Adobe, Photoshop or Illustrator 3
  • Experience with Classy or Salesforce (or other CRM platform) a plus
  • Strong event technology skills (Zoom, virtual event platforms, AV, production, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate with confidence and credibility, both internally + externally
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Fast learner with an inquisitive, creative mind and eye for detail
  • Ability to work and interact with diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant current events, pop culture and social justice conversations
  • High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, fun, collaborative and high degree of initiative
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain a customer-service mindset
  • Desire to work in event production and/or nonprofit industries
  • A bachelor's degree is great to have, but we are more interested in your skills, experience, and past contributions

Salary: The salary for this role is $50,000. Step Up has a generous time off benefit which includes unlimited paid time off and 14 paid holidays.
