Vivianne Bohorques serves as Step Up's vice president of operations and strategy. In this role, she ensures the organization has what it needs to fulfill its mission, including leading the areas of organization effectiveness, data, human resources, information technology, and finance.
Vivianne Bohorques most recently served as chief operations officer at The Children's Trust, responsible for directing and managing the overall work of the Trust's operations inclusive of program performance, general internal operations and community and board relations. During Vivianne's tenure with The Children's Trust, she led and developed a new strategy for the $100M grant-making process, ensuring equity and fairness which led to a 30% increase in new awardees. Vivianne joined the Trust in 2016 after serving in leadership roles at City Year where she concentrated on establishing transformational school district partnerships, implementing City Year's service model and leading the organization in strategic planning and goal setting.
Prior to City Year, Vivianne served as the director of education and policy for Miami Mayor Manny Diaz. As a veteran mathematics teacher in Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Vivianne brought with her a grassroots knowledge of the education system along with a strong understanding of the community's educational programs.
In 2020, after 25 years of career progression in education, government and nonprofit leadership, Vivianne embarked on a journey of personal and professional development to pause, reflect and grow, as a strategic step for career exploration. During this time, Vivianne traveled and provided consulting services for public-private strategic partnerships focused on improving community outcomes, such as Together for Children – a countywide coalition of community members and anchor institutions working together to address the root causes of youth violence in Miami-Dade.
Vivianne is a Miami native who earned her BS in mathematics from Florida International University as a first-generation college student. Vivianne is a member of Leadership Florida and proudly serves on the boards of Genesis Hopeful Haven and Allegany Franciscan Ministries Foundation. She is also the very proud mom of Alexa Bohorques, a sociology major at the University of Florida.
